People Training for Dogs

Woodside is pleased to have a dog trainer on staff. Lisa Ridens is a certified dog trainer who has been training dogs for herself, friends, and family for over 20 years. In 2008 she became certified to train dogs professionally.  She is a graduate of Animal Behavioral College and spent a year mentoring with a veteran trainer from Gig Harbor who was voted best trainer on the Kitsap Peninsula in 2009.  As an effort to remain current on the latest training techniques and ideas, Lisa attends continuing education classes regularly.

Lisa is teaching two classes:

  • A beginning class where you will learn basic obedience and dog psychology.
  • An intermediate class that focuses more on putting the basics to work in real life.                   Part of this class is taught at the park.

Both classes are 6 weeks long and are held at Woodside Animal Hospital on Sunday    afternoons. The cost for each 6 week class is $100.

The next series of classes are scheduled to begin on February 26, 2012.

Please come in or call our office to register today!

What people have been saying about the classes...

"I am so appreciative of the puppy class taught by Lisa Ridens at Woodside. With her calm demeanor and practical advice, Lisa is able to interpret dog behavior and not only teach the commands, but also explain the dog's perception. It was very helpful to have her watch us with our dogs and provide feedback on what we were saying and our body language. Though I've had dogs almost all of my life and have taken basic obedience classes before, I found these classes to be infinitely valuable. I feel much closer to my dog, and my husband even noticed the difference in the dog.   I am hoping to take the intermediate class!" --Mary Eklund

"Lisa is very knowledgeable and helpful" --Knightly

"I liked being able to have a lot of one on one help.  I really liked Lisa and her methods" --Monica Nesseth
