Dr. Mike Van HornDr. Mike Van Horn

Dr. Mike Van Horn received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Biology) from Union College. While in school, Dr. Mike enjoyed working in Alaska and experiencing companion animal veterinary practice in New Zealand.

After practicing on the east coast for several years, Dr. Mike and family relocated to the Greater Puget Sound area in 1996, where he has been engaged in small animal practice exclusively ever since. Dr. Mike Van Horn's professional interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and medicine for all life stages. Dr. Mike is a Seahawks fan and enjoys old time radio shows, reading, boating, and playing with his children.


Dr. Keena Van HornDr. Kristina ("Keena") Van Horn

Dr. Keena Van Horn received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Rutgers University/Cook College. While in school, Dr. Keena pursued independent research in liver and kidney pathophysiology and graduated as a George H Cook Honors Scholar. Since moving to Washington State with Dr. Mike in 1996, Dr. Keena Van Horn has practiced in exclusively small animal general and referral emergency practices.

Together, they purchased Woodside Animal Hospital in 2005. She especially enjoys internal medicine, feline (cat) medicine, soft tissue surgery, and behavioral medicine. Extracurricularly, Dr. Keena loves raising and riding Arabian horses, particularly for endurance and dressage careers. Life is very busy with small children, two dogs and three cats, and several horses!


Dr. DAvid BalderRama

Originally from California,  Dr. Balderrama joined our staff in September 2015 and has been a great addition! Dr. Balderrama graduated from Ross University in 2003 and has experience in emergency clinics, private practices, and with a variety of species of animals. He moved to Kitsap County in 2009 with his wife and son. With his entertaining personality, Dr. Balderrama provides a dynamic balance of humor and efficiency to the workflow at Woodside Animal Hospital. When he is not dedicating time here at the hospital, Dr. Balderrama and his family are exploring all that the Puget Sound has to offer. Dr. Balderrama is also a huge Gonzaga basketball fan and a Beatles fan. Currently, Dr. Balderrama owns a select variety of reptiles, a few exotic insects, and a tortoise as loving pets.
